Aside from her originals, Kandace is also deft at covers. In fact, is was her quiet cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" that caught Prince's attention in the first place. Achingly beautiful and simple, with just Kandace's voice ringing out as she accompanies herself on piano, delivering an honesty and vulnerability to the song without relying on a choir or strings to get the emotion across.
Kandace is set to drop her four-song, self-titled EP on September 30th on Blue Note Records. In addition, she's already booked her debut television performance on The Late Show with David Letterman on October 3rd. In other words, it's going to be a very busy fall for the up-and-comer.
