This time last year Atlanta-based trio The Dangerfeel Newbies inspired us with their positive jam "Gotta Live My Life," featuring vocalist Julie Dexter. We loved their soulful groove and immediately wanted to hear more, but the Newbies left us hanging. However, we are happy to hear that the group is back with new music and the announcement that their debut album, Harriet, will be released later this summer.
For those who are not familiar with The Dangerfeel Newbies, the trio consists of DJs Jamal Ahmad and Mark Angel as well as keyboardist Darren "DJ" Wagner. Inspired by the true story of the revolutionary Dangerfield Newby, one of the five Black Raiders of abolitionist John Brown's party, The Dangerfeel Newbies aim to create music that embodies the spirit of freedom. Their sound is rooted in a diverse spectrum of blues, jazz, soul, house and hip hop. Their new single "Always With Me" is a neo-soul tune featuring the vocalists J'Piccola and Mashan Da'Lyric. These two voices sound great together as they sing about the sweetest love over a laid-back groove.
