We’ve been eagerly awaiting new music from singer-songwriter Nikki Jean since she dropped the playfully dark visuals for “Take You Out” late last year. Word on the streets is that she’s readying for the release of her new EP this fall.

Thankfully, the Twin Cities native took some time to show the summer some love. First, it was the hot Ab-Soul collabo “World Runners” (also featuring Lupe Fiasco). But now it’s time for some solo shine with her newest single, “Summertime Girl.” The track, co-produced by Double-O, is warm and lush like a balmy summer night. Jean starts out with the coy invitation, “Come on, come out, come here. I’ve been waiting for this all year.” Her vocals bring an ethereal sensuality that keeps the vibe hot and heavy with just the right amount of chill. The cherry on top of this summer treat is the nuanced interpolation of the guitar by Young the Giant’s Eric Cannata (particularly that quick nod to The Isley Brothers’ (via Seals & Crofts) “Summer Breeze”).

Take heed, you might wanna grab a cool drink before you hit the play button on this scorcher. Free downloads are available on her SoundCloud page. Hurry up and get this scoop before it’s gone.
