We have to admit even we are starting to get a little overwhelmed with the new crop of female R&B singers that are seemingly taking over the blogosphere of late. Every day seems to throw up yet another name vying for our attention it what seems to be an ever growing landscape where '90s R&B meets '00s electronics and everyone is giving the slightest nod to Sade. That said, we aren't complaining as these young ladies are certainly coming correct and Billie Black is the latest addition to the ever-growing list.
The 19-year-old Londoner has certainly been taking tips from Jessie Ware on the silky-smooth soul front, but there are also elements of Sasha Keable's ice-cool pop and, on previous single "I Waited For You," a The xx-meets-SOHN bass wobble. Her latest effort, "I Don't Need Another Lover," sees Billie caught up in the relationship maze, but while the lyrics may suggest she has lost her way, those crystal clear, sultry vocals glide over The Imposters' beat like a woman who knows exactly where she is going.
