Aaron “Ab” Abernathy is continuing his 45 Series with its third volume this summer, and what better way to get the party started again than with a steamy new single? “A Quarter After Morning” is a sensual R&B number that finds Abernathy contending for get-the-draws jam of the year as he seduces his lady early in the morning. The DC native finesses the keys and key bass just right, with a little help from Black Milk on the drums, to set the perfect musical atmosphere for an after midnight love groove. This ’80s-inspired single comes laced with hints of Prince and D’Angelo influences, all while reminding you just what we love most about Ab’s consistent brand of retro soul.

As for 45 Series, Vol. III, About Last Summer…, Abernathy has an extra special treat planned for listeners as he will unleash the four-track EP on August 13th. While he hasn’t said much else about what to expect from the project, we’re pretty sure that he’ll be baring plenty more gifts of falsetto crooning and “lust-filled dialogue” to help keep the rest of your summer nice and steamy. Until then, make your way over to iTunes to grab a copy of “A Quarter After Morning” and dig into all of this body roll-inducing goodness.
