Just a few short months after sharing her Breathing Underwater EP, the lovely London goddess Ego Ella May is back with something new, but this time around she’s not alone. Teaming up with producer Mini-D as the duo MDMay, May is continuing to provide the trippiest soundtrack possible and we’re especially enamored by this specific effort.
MDMay is taking on Common and Mary J. Blige’s spectacular 2002 duet “Come Close” and flipping it into something equally as loveable as the original. With Mini-D lacing the beat, May breezes through both Common and Blige’s parts in the song with her buttery smooth tone on her own. While she often remains true to the song’s original melody, it’s her own spin and flare that makes this cover most magical.
