Beaten Bodies Are Worthy Of Wearing ‘Crowns’

In case you weren’t aware, there is a burgeoning soul movement happening in Australia. Starting with the soul revival sounds of Dojo Cuts and Electric Empire a few years back, and now with local alt-soul stars Hiatus Kaiyote and Ngaiire leading the way, the path has been paved and artists are coming out of the woodwork inspired and ready to fly the Aussie nu soul flag. One such band is Beaten Bodies, who hail from Sydney and surrounds. They will be releasing their EP, The Royal Road, next month and are touring the east coast of Australia in support. Head over to the Beaten Bodies Facebook page for more information on that, but in the meantime I’d suggest getting better acquainted with these royal beings through the lush grooves of their single, “Crowns.” The visuals accompanying the track show the seven-piece band performing and creating their experimental nu soul sound, which only serves to emphasize that these are some bodies that are more than worthy of wearing a crown.
