Newcomer Adia is bringing an R&B sensibility to her brand of gospel music. The St. Louis-born and Chicago-bred songstress is prepping for the release of her debut album this summer and she definitely has us intrigued with the video for her first single "Rags To Riches." The inspirational tune doesn't sound like your average gospel song, and the visuals follow suit as we see a woman at the end of her rope -- and possibly her life -- while Adia sings.
The viewer is taken through the lead character's life in flashback to see what may have led her to this breaking point. A lot of drama comes from Willie Taylor of Day 26 who makes a guest appearance as her abusive alcoholic boyfriend. Will this young lady make it out of the valley to the mountaintop that Adia sings about? In the end she has to rely on her faith to bring her through.
"Rags To Riches" is a powerful first showing from Adia whose upcoming debut collection, Behind Enemy Lines, will be released July 29th.
