Over the past year, singer-songwriter Marie Dahlstrom has been wooing us with her music and taking home the Bounce-Worthy Artist of the Year title in the process. She nabbed the honor thanks in large part to the two releases she dropped last year, her EP of original songs Gloom and an album of covers, Renditions. The latest song to get her cover treatment is Patrice Rushen's 1982 classic "Forget Me Nots." In Dahlstrom's hands, this post-disco dance tune gets transformed into a slow and sensual ballad worthy of a few good bodyrolls. She taps San Francisco-based singer Jeremy Passion to assist her on the vocals, turning the song into a duet. The result is a beautiful rendition that softens the edges on Rushen's original. Dahlstrom and Passion's voices provide the perfect compliment to each other, never overpowering the other.
"Forget Me Nots" is the first single from her upcoming The Renditions Part Two project, which if its anything like her first cover album, The Renditions, promises to be a musical treat in more ways than one. She's currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the album, but in the meantime, she is gifting fans with a free download of "Forget Me Nots" to tide us over.
