We're not usually ones to take a rumor and run with it, but this one is too good not to say anything about it. Word on the internets is that Janet Jackson might be coming out with an album in the near future. While this rumor circulates every year that passes without some kind of new Janet material, this time, there's some hefty weight behind it from none other than longtime friend and collaborator Jimmy Jam. While sharing a Buzzfeed article comparing Janet to Beyoncé, he tweeted the following:
In anticipation of some exciting @JanetJackson news let's refresh our memories of her greatness. http://t.co/r68jnNl4gf

And then the Internet (OK, OK...us here at SBHQ) went nuts. Granted, "exciting Janet Jackson news" could mean anything, but with her outright telling Billboard that she was making new music last year, we'd like to think that Jimmy's preparing us for a new Janet album. But it could also be news of a Rhythm Nation 1814 re-release, what with the album celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and all. Then again, it could be word of a big concert or appearance coming up soon — or it could be all of the above. Since all of us here pretty much have a shrine to Janet in our homes (wait, is that just me?), our minds are going wild contemplating all the possibilities that this potential news could bring.
If you, like us, are in a euphoric tizzy about this (potential) news, then let us know what you would hope to hear on a new Janet project. In the meantime, relive one of Janet's classic moments while those of us at SBHQ keep an eye out for any and every tidbit we can find on what Jimmy's news might be.
