Our favorite married duo Kindred the Family Soul will be returning to the music scene this summer with a new album titled A Couple Friends on June 10th. The last album we heard from the Philly neo-soul couple was 2011's critically-acclaimed Love Has No Recession, which geared toward social and political commentary. This time around, Kindred will continue their beautiful love story, focusing on the joys and challenges of a committed relationship. While the album will be more free flowing with less features from other artists than the last, Kindred will continue to collaborate with star producers such as Vidal Davis and Andre Harris (Jill Scott, Marsha Ambrosius), Anthony Bell (Jaheim, Estelle), James Poyser (John Legend, The Roots) and Steve McKie (Bilal, Jazmine Sullivan).
To tide us over until its release, a special 22-minute short film featuring material from Kindred the Family Soul's new album is in production and will be released soon. Describing the sound and vision for the new project, Fatin states, "I feel growth in the record for us. It's still the same 'us' but more seasoned. We've been together a long time and we know each other extremely well." After being in a relationship for almost 20 years and sharing their lasting love with us for a decade, it is certain that Kindred is not going anywhere. We look forward to hearing Kindred's down to earth soul music in the next few months.
