And the Christmas tunes just keep on coming. With the holiday mere hours away, we have yet another holiday entry from none other than R&B newcomer Ebony Joi. She links up with her regular go-to producer Steve McKie and brings along The Roots' James Poyser for her recreation of the Christmas classic "O Holy Night." Her version is fairly faithful to most modern interpretations of the sang, taking it nice and slow with slight orchestral flourishes and twinkling keys. But the real star of the story is Ebony's calm, confident delivery. She doesn't oversing it like many are wont to do. Instead, she reins it in and wrings emotion from the lyrics with a subtle grace. Though we are definitely flush with holiday music this season, we might just make a little more room for this one.
