Will SWV's Mature 'Voices' Be Heard On The Small Screen?

Recently, we learned that Cheryl "Coko" Clemons, Leanne "LeLee" Lyons and Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George have come together for a new unscripted WE tv reality show, SWV - Sisters With Voices, slated for release in early 2014. All the press releases and articles mention that the show would follow SWV's comeback. This confused me, as I thought they were already back. The group's last album, 2012's I Missed Us, went top 25 on the Billboard 200, featured an Adult R&B top 10 single ("Co-Sign"), spawned a GRAMMY nomination and added some much needed classic '90s R&B flavor to an already oversaturated R&B market. Also, word of mouth spread that Coko and company were still blowing these young folks off the stage on tour. After seeing the hot mess that is Nicci Gilbert R&B Divas and the misadventures of The Braxtons on Braxton Family Values, I strain to find excitement over a show where three more extremely talented black women could possibly reduce themselves to sideshow acts. We'll have to wait until early next year to see whether SWV will demonstrate their newfound maturity or simply keep up the reality TV status quo.
