Prince Rocks The Billboard Music Awards With A 'Crazy' Good Performance

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards will be remembered for many things -- Chris Brown's broken "Fine China" performance, Miguel letting his leg "Adorn" a fan's neck, Nicki Minaj's highly inappropriate yet Magic City worthy "High School" lap dance on Lil Wayne. But someone who almost got lost in the struggle sauce was the man who was the sole reason for me enduring three hours of cruel and unusual awards show torture to begin with: Prince. His Purple Majesty was relegated to less than 10 minutes at the end of the program, but he more than made up for all of the fails that we had to suffer through. Introduced by Erykah Badu and Janelle Monáe, who flawlessly recreated their "Q.U.E.E.N." video looks, Prince showed Las Vegas' MGM Grand and television audiences exactly why he was receiving the Icon Award in case you've been in a coma for the past 35 years. Backed by his latest protegees 3RDEYEGIRL, P rocked out with his fro out launching into a guitar-driven "Let's Go Crazy" before jamming out on the new track "Fix Ur Life Up." Prince got his guitar hero on and sounded as flawless vocally and musically as his makeup looked. This performance ended the Billboard Music Awards on a high note and put people on notice that Prince is still at the top of his game, one which will see him releasing music in the near future under a new marketing and distribution deal with KLS on his terms. If Prince's upcoming tunes are delivering this same hard rock edge, then get ready to bow down once again to the ruler.
