To celebrate the fact that Duke Dumont and A*M*E's "Need U (100%)," a song MNEK co-wrote, has spent its second week at the top of the UK charts, the Londoner has released another of his hotly anticipated refixes. Having covered legendary female artists like Sade and Janet Jackson in the past, this time around he went all the way left, choosing British pop band Atomic Kitten's "Whole Again." Now this was a huge hit in the UK back in 2001, but I personally find the song almost unbearable in its original form. Thankfully MNEK has given it a smooth, electro-soul makeover, and even shoe-horned an interpolation of Des'ree's "You Gotta Be" into proceedings. 2013 is turning into a great year for MNEK, and this just reinforces his position as the one to watch. Let's hope that solo record deal comes sooner rather than later.
