Will This OutKast Mini-Reunion On Frank Ocean's 'Pink Matter' Quench Your Thirst?

Much like the mythical unicorn that has become the highly-anticipated, but seemingly never-to-be-released new albums from artists like Lauryn Hill and D'Angelo, hardcore fans of OutKast still wait with fingers and toes crossed for the moment when Big Boi and Andre 3000 join forces again. And much like the false starts of L-Boogie and D before them, we're more than willing to grasp at anything in order to satiate our thirst in the meantime. So when word got out that 3 Stacks and Sir Lucious Leftfoot would be reuniting on a remix of Frank Ocean's "Pink Matter," it caused a small ripple of anticipation to flood the internet. Small, considering the fact that this "reunion" is really just Big Boi adding a verse to an already recorded and released song. As a bonafide OutKast stan, I'm having trouble conjuring up excitement because the song obviously lacks the electric interplay that made the two such a dynamic duo in the first place. Add to that the fact that I found Andre's highly-touted collabo with Frank Ocean to be a bit of a letdown back when channel Orange dropped, and I'm just left feeling even sadder that my two favorite Atliens still don't quite seem to be on the same page. Admittedly though, hearing them on the same track again does give me a small sliver of hope that maybe one day we'll finally get a true OutKast reunion.
