Emeli Sandé Does Not Want To Be Your 'Clown'

This has been a great year for Emeli Sandé. Already a star in the UK with her chart-topping album, Our Version of Events, she was blasted at light speed onto the world stage with her standout performance at the 2012 London Olympic Games and has everyone from Madonna to Dionne Warwick praising her artistry. Her record company believes in her, too, pumping out another video, this time for the ballad, "Clown." This black-and-white clip contains subtitles reminiscent of silent films. Emeli is being interrogated and coerced, by what seems like a 1945 Gestapo police force, into signing something (possibly a record contract) that goes against her best wishes. Maybe I am slow on the uptake, but I spent more time trying to figure out what the video represented than vibing with the song. That doesn't take away from the fact that she looks and sounds stunning, but the vague storyline really doesn't do the track proper justice.
