Go Into The 'Fire' With Alicia Keys

The eternal question is: Can a woman have it all? With an Angela Davis fist-pump and a Shirley Chisholm stance I gotta say, "Hell yeah!" Just by looking at my mother, my grandmothers and even our lovely FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, the examples of women doin' it for themselves while still having a chance to breathe runs rather deep and close to home. So I appreciate Alicia Keys (as well as appreciate her also subtracting Nicki Minaj from this cut) for once again championing women with "Girl On Fire" and proving the "can" lives on "do" street, and most women today walk on it with their high heels on strutting with pride. Though I'm still on the fence about the track itself, as I prefer the slower "Bluelight version," this video is something to engage in as it latches on to a lovely retro look that has Ms. Keys looking all kinds of fab-u-lous as she add a little glam and Mary Poppins-esque spice to domesticity while touching lightly on almost every aspect of a woman's grind in today's world. "Girl On Fire" and its video couldn't come at a more perfect time as in this year's presidential election one of the hot button issues at current focuses on women, especially women in and out of the workforce. Judging from this video, Alicia Keys' song, and from women all over it's pretty safe and obvious to see and hear that women are a force that can achieve their lives as they see fit. Just don't put us in a binder, okay?
