We 'Still' Love Tamia

While my heart continues to be a lonely hunter, nothing warms it more than to see couples make it through the fire and rain all in the name of love. In this era of high divorce rates, depressing statistics of singletons and people denying others rights to marry, when a couple beats those odds no matter what, my little wannabe-cynical heart just celebrates. Looking at my folks, who will be celebrating 33 years of marriage this weekend, I know love isn't six-feet under and I find myself at times nodding my head, thinking, "Yeah, I want that." "That" is what is outlined in Tamia's much beloved song, "Still." Much like love, the song, even with a little dust and mileage on it, can still be profound and as sweet as ever. Which is why Tamia thought it apt to re-record and re-release it on her upcoming Beautiful Surprise album. First produced by Jermaine Dupri for her 2004 More album, "Still" is now re-shaped by producer Claude Kelly and the two take it back to the way songs "used to be" without all the trimmings and trappings in the background. With Nashville session musicians, "Still" is given an acoustic makeover that feels rooted in rich country tones, and still Tamia's honesty and vocals shine on through. As the song goes, it certainly does feel like we're experiencing it for the first time. Continue to feel the love by taking in a flashback of Tamia performing it back in '04 on Soul Train after the bounce.
