Hiatus Kaiyote Will Sweep You Away To Australia With 'Nakamarra'

A few months back you may remember that we introduced to the future soul sound of Hiatus Kaiyote when we designated them as Bounce-Worthy. Now the Melbourne, Australia based four piece have released the music video to the track "Nakamarra" off their debut album, Tawk Tomohawk. The visuals for this soulful number see the band playing in the barren yet beautiful Australian outback. According to the band, they spent nine days travelling through Australia to film the music video, which is shot in Alice Springs (basically smack bam in the middle of the country). For those that don't know much about Australia beyond kangaroos and koalas, it's worth noting that all its cities are coastal, and as such the outback is a place that is known for being haunting, spiritual and dusty with a breathtakingly magnificent landscape that contrasts from dry, red terrain to lush green watering holes. For this Aussie girl a little smile comes to my face when I see the mysterious beauty of the landscape accompanied by the soul-jazz fusion of "Nakamarra," complete with lead singer Nai Palm's expressive vocals. But you don't need to be from the land down under to appreciate the intriguing combination featured here. Check out the music video below and be enthralled by two wonders of Australia: the land and Hiatus Kaiyote.
