I hate when I get caught sleeping, especially when I could have been the early bird on something. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, but thankfully when it comes to good music there is no expiration date and the ear milk is always fresh. And the word fresh is exactly what I'd use to describe "WantchU," a mellow smooth groove from producer Gensu Dean and singer Olivier Daysoul. This joint surfaced a few weeks ago and has been in heavy rotation on this end so I figured that I'd highlight it in the event that anyone missed the B-side single when it dropped. Dean may be known for his hip-hop productions but he taps into his soulful side for this cut and Daysoul finesses it with his
silky vocals as he sings about his infatuation with a certain young lady. The wink and nod to Kraftwerk throughout the song is a fly touch that fits surprisingly well. Try it on for size and be sure to cop the free download over on Bandcamp if you're loving this as much as I am.
