VaShawn Mitchell Worships With Fantasia & Diane Barrino In 'The Potter's House'

In preparation for the release of his highly-anticipated forthcoming album, Created4This, VaShawn Mitchell and EMI Gospel have released a preview of what's to come next month. Known most for his GRAMMY-nominated crossover hit "Nobody Greater," VaShawn returned to his Harvey, Illinois hometown back in April for the live recording of this new set. Featuring a star-studded gospel guest list including Israel Houghton and Kierra Sheard, Created4This has the potential to stand strong at the top of the gospel Billboard charts this fall. Judging from the preview snippets alone, the strongest song of the bunch would have to be the traditional remake of Tramaine and Walter Hawkins' 1991 Dove Award-winning duet, "The Potter's House." With Fantasia and her mother Diane Barrino in tow, VaShawn manages to successfully return to the classic traditional sound that the legendary Hawkins family is known for. And we all know that Fantasia was built for this; a gospel record from the 2004 American Idol winner is long overdue. VaShawn Mitchell's Created4This will be available via iTunes and Amazon on August 28th. In case you missed the 2012 Essence Music Festival as did I, catch a glimpse of Fantasia and VaShawn performing "Nobody Greater" during her set after the bounce.
