As an '80's baby, it's my noble duty to be automatically enthralled with anything and everything synth-y, neon bright, and pretty much over-the-top as par to the decade. So hearing that Muhsinah covered Tears For Fears' "The Working Hour" and knowing the DC darling's track record, I didn't need to push the play button to be convinced any further of the sound adventure awaiting my ears. "The Working Hour" derives off of the the UK duo's chart-topping 1985 album, Songs From the Big Chair, which also included such hits as "Everybody Wants To Rule the World" and "Head Over Heels." Lesser known "The Working Hour" has been stripped of its eerie fog-like existence and re-energized by stark up-tempo synths, and hand-claps that fits Muhsinah's style to a tee. Though I miss the sax solos that embodied the original, the Golden Girl really spices things up on this. Muhsinah's rendering of the track has been in hiding since 2009, but it is now available for guilt-free public consumption. Have a listen after the bounce and just offer up an e-mail address to be rewarded with an aural throwback treat.
