Dee-1, Murs & Syreeta Neal Go 'Ridin''

At a time when rappers are cussiing each other out via Twitter, song and any other forum they can find, an artist like Dee-1 is more than a breath of fresh air. Since floating onto our radars last year, the New Orleans native has definitely gotten the attention of us at the SBHQ with his squeaky clean rhymes and boyish good looks refreshing approach to hip hop. When it seems that rappers are in a constant competition to see who can be the most ignorant, violent and misogynistic, the former teacher is creating his own lane instead by choosing to deliver a more positive outlook to music fans. In the latest video from his I Hope They Hear Me Vol. 2 mixtape, he enlists the talents of Murs and singer Syreeta Neal on the infectious "Ridin' By Myself." Backed by a beat that is definitely more Pharcyde than what his fellow N'awlins-based counterparts are producing, the song makes me want to cruise the streets with my top down as this blasts from the speakers. But, since I drive a regular ol' Camry, just rolling around with my windows down will have to do in the meantime. Regardless of where you are when you listen to this one, it's sure to brighten your day.
