Get 'Heavy' & Get Down With PJ Morton & Adam Levine

I have to admit that when I first heard that PJ Morton signed to Cash Money Records that I feared for the worst. With the exception of Teena Marie, the label isn't exactly known for having success with artists of the soul variety. However, my fears have been put to rest -- for now, at least -- with the release of PJ's first song since announcing his deal. "Heavy" finds him teaming up with his Maroon 5 bandmate Adam Levine, and together they get funky one time. Adam might have the moves like Jagger, but PJ has the voice like Wonder as he channels the soul icon from his prolific 1970's heyday. Morton and Levine are used to working together, but they sound exceptionally good here even if there are some vocal effects in play. This song just makes me want to start a one-woman Soul Train line in my office and break out into a plethora of old-school dances. And since lyric videos are the new black, Morton serves one up for our viewing pleasure. Get into the brightly-colored video, and get ready for PJ's Following My First Mind to drop on March 27th.
