It's Showtime At The Apollo With President Barack Obama

I'd be lying if I said that it hasn't been a rough and rocky past few years since President Barack Obama has been in office. The "Yes We Can!" love has kina lost its shine, but overnight it got polished back to a high sheen -- or an afro sheen, if you will. Because during a speech at a fundraiser held at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, President Obama broke out into song, and not just any song. The man sang a line from Al Green's 1971 classic "Let's Stay Together" after the good reverend performed earlier in the night. Yes. He. Did. Prez O only broke us off with about eight seconds of vocals, but what an impressive eight seconds they were. The man actually has a nice voice. Granted, he's no Luther, but his brief version had a lot of spunk and more soul that Seal's remake and elicited squeals of joy from the Apollo audience and my living room. Displaying his ripe sense of humor, President Obama even joked that the Sandman didn't come out with his hook to drag him off stage (which may not have been a good idea with all the security on the premises anyway). It's only a matter of time before this gets Auto-Tuned and sampled until all of the novelty is gone, but after watching this, I can emphatically say, yes, let's stay together, Barack. Yes we can...again.
