Remakes are often like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get when you press play. However, if that cover is done by a group such as Little Dragon with singer Yukimi Nagano leading the charge, then you can rest assured that you'll be sinking your teeth into something that will put a smile on your face. Needless to say, I'm over here grinning and grooving to their live rendition of Crystal Waters' 1991 hit "Gypsy Woman" recorded during a performance in Ibiza and broadcast on BBC Radio 1. The quality of the recording isn't the greatest, but that won't stop you from breaking out into a soul clap once you hear it.
Their rendition stays true to the original as opposed to turning it into the moody electronic fare that Little Dragon is known for. Yukimi sounds dope, which should come as no surprise, but what was unexpected was their segue into Robin S.'s "Show Me Love" for the second half of the performance. Hearing Little Dragon switch it up like this and take on house music classics is beyond awesome. More please. [H/T: TCS]
