Do Jay-Z & Kanye West Go 'H.A.M.' On 'Otis'?

Last night the internet block was hot with the release of "Otis," the new single from Jay-Z and Kanye West's soon-to-be-released Watch the Throne. Hip-hop bloggers and Twitter critics the world over collectively sprayed the duo and track with orgasms of praise. Me? I fell asleep halfway through the act of listening.  Now that I've had some rest and revisited the song after my initial boredom, I will say that "Otis" is leaps and bounds better than, "H.A.M.," the first track we heard from these two off of this project, which was anything but sizzling. "Otis" goes much harder than that song did, with Jigga and Yeezy trading bars for a little over two minutes about their millionaire swagger and how great they are. You know, the usual. Comparing their two flows, I gotta give the advantage to Ye who kept the song moving for me and got bonus points for his nod to Audio Two's "Top Billing." The 30-second Otis Redding "Try A Little Tenderness" sample at the intro was way too long, and the screaming on the outro was overkill but overall the song isn't bad. Is it the second coming of Christ like many are acting like it is best rap song I've heard this year? Hardly. "Otis" isn't that nice nor "Nasty."
