I love how more and more artists are reaching back to the ’80s to create new music with that authentic throwback flavor. And if you’re going to reach anywhere, then what better place to look than in Prince‘s purple catalog? That’s where Matti Roots clearly got the inspiration for “Lust,” the new single from his album BeatRoot, which was released in April of this year. Roots takes us on a funked up joyride from his native UK to Paisley Park. Along the way he lets the object of his desire know in no uncertain terms how much he wants her. This song has synths, horns, and a thumping bass line that will make you think you’re at First Avenue circa 1984. If you’re loving this as much as I am, then check for the single’s official release on July 4th with “Don’t Worry” on the b-side.
