I was possibly a little over-critical when I reviewed James Blake's debut, self-titled LP earlier this year. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate the little intricacies that I missed previously, and it's becoming a regular "go-to" album when I'm in a reflective mood. That being said, I saw James Blake as very much a "CD" album, i.e. one that sounds great on record but wouldn't translate all that well live. Again, I think I may have to eat my own words after seeing his performance on Later...With Jools Holland last week. Blake performed his breakthrough single "Limit To Your Love" and the haunting "The Wilhelm Scream," and I was transfixed by both. So much so I will be catching him when he comes to a city near me soon. [H/T: PBB]
