Last month we gave you a heads up about a contest from John Legend & The Roots who are seeking the best remix of their song "Shine," from the album Wake Up! and as heard in the movie Waiting For Superman, with a fantastic prize package from Indaba Music on the line. Our new SoulBounce fave, producer and musician Ahmed Sirour, gave us a sneak peek at his work in progress--a beautiful re-imagining of the original with lush orchestration--and since that time he tweaked his submission and has entered it into the contest. The winners will be chosen by both John Legend himself and a public vote, so take a listen to the "Shine (Ahmed Sirour Remix)" via the handy dandy widget to the right, and if you like it as much as we love it, then vote for Ahmed to win and also download the song for your own collections. Voting is open now through Friday, January 28th at 8 pm on the Indaba Music website and you can also listen to the other submissions, although we happen to think that Sirour's outshines them all.
