Don't Let This J.Cole & B.o.B 'Pass' You 'By'

While it's easy to compare new rappers to legends, one could imagine that this first
collaboration between North Carolina's J.Cole and ATL's B.o.B could be a preview of
hip hop's next Jay-Z and Andre 3000. In "Pass Me By," which originally surfaced last summer sans Bobby Ray, Cole discusses the challenges
of being a young man in today's society--bill collectors, hawking police officers,
and double standards. The content, catchy melody, and descending staccato piano
riffs keep the song fresh and memorable. B.o.B makes his mark on the chorus with
honest lines like "Gotta live for today, so life won't pass me by." You won't hear this
in the club, but it's a great song to play on the way to work to get your mind right.
