Maxwell Wants You To 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' & A 'Silent Night'

Last Friday night TNT aired Christmas in Washington, and I was tuned in to see Maxwell in a rare television performance as he sang to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and an audience of millions on the Christmas music special filmed at the National Building Museum. Ellen DeGeneres hosted and Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox and Mr. Schuster Matthew Morrison also performed, but for me it was all about Maxwell who sang two holiday standards, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Silent Night," and sang them relatively well. Looking straight out of the '60s dressed in a slim tuxedo and Civil Rights era spectacles, Max seemed a little nervous at the beginning of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," but by the time he sang "Silent Night" later in the program he was in his zone. Did his "Silent Night" have anything on The Temptations' definitive version? No, but he's so dreamy to look at and listen to that it really didn't matter. From the looks of this video and that mesmerized look in her eyes, Michelle O. surely agreed.
