
For some reason, certain rappers manage to maintain relevance throughout the years. Perhaps it's due to their undeniable talent, perhaps it's a certain "it" factor or perhaps it's simply because we seem to connect with them on some level. AZ has always managed to fit effortlessly into the previous three categories to me. With his latest track, "The Calm," produced by Statik Selektah, Statik's '70s-era beat with its floating horns and ephemeral vocals meets AZ's punctuated flow quite well.
