MC Hammer Tries To 'Run' A Comeback. Sadness Ensues.

Few things make me as sad as watching this video for the song "Better Run" from MC Hammer. This totally trumps Hammer's own 1993 single "Pumps in a Bump" as the worst comeback attempt from a fallen star. So who is at fault and who can we blame for this? A-ha! I knew Kanye West and Beyoncé had to be six degrees of separation from the perpetrator. Apparently, according to Twitter rumor, MC Hammer was offended by Bey's hubby Jay-Z's diss on the Kanye song "So Appalled."  So this Hammer video is a response to thrust his chest out and rooster rock a response. Yet, for the life of me, I can't seem to find the connection in this video that resembles any type of response. Perhaps that's the point. My logical mind tells me that Hammer's spin machine hyped this video as a diss track towards Jigga so we would watch this obvious mish-mosh of religious imagery and poor dialogue to try to give the video a reference point that it doesn't possess. In any case, I feel like Hammer won and got viewers to watch a video that is a last ditch effort from an irrelevant has-been to make a wave in a genre of music that has never fully embraced him as a real player. My unsolicited advice to Hammer is to put the hip-hop fantasies aside and focus on the undeniable talent as a dancer he has that timidly resonates in this train wreck of a video. As the adage goes, "Misery loves company," so I implore you all to watch and comment, because I don't want be the only one who wasted five minutes of my life that I won't be getting back anytime soon.
