From the sound of it, the upcoming collaboration between The Roots and John Legend (due September 21st) is going to be pretty decent. The most recent tease for the project is this video for "Hard Times," which was recorded live in the studio. Legend strikes the right tone with his performance of the song, which one could say is a similar tone to the one he strikes for every performance. Here, though, it's really effective. It has teeth that sink into the frustrated, tense message. Black Thought swoops in to remind us of how he's one of the best in game with effortless cool that's still biting. If the album can capture the atmosphere of this video, it should be good.
