SoulBounce Loves 'Pretty Wangs'

To be a Maxwell fan is more than an unspoken requirement to write for SoulBounce *smile* it's a  musical preference that transcends gender, race, age and religion. His latest album, BLACKsummers'night, continues to spice up the charts and the stage. The fervor, class, high energy and sexiness of Maxwell is synonymous with the love and enthusiasm he evokes here at SoulBounce. Let's face it, the two go together: SoulBounce and Maxwell are like peanut butter and jelly or nightclubs and that guy walking around selling roses.

As he concludes his U.S. tour, we salute him with our own blend of spices--based on each SoulBounce member--for use exclusively on "pretty (chicken) wangs." It's affectionately called SoulBounce Pretty Wang Seasoning for the Grown &Sexy. I believe soul music is more than a genre, it's a lifestyle; from music to videos...even cooking. My inaugural batch of SoulBounce "Pretty Wangs" had a distinct taste and texture of sweet, tang and spice that's guaranteed to confuse your taste buds. Add a little mambo sauce and you're in chicken wing utopia.

Let's break these ingredients down, shall we?

"Harlem" - Lawry's Seasoned Salt (2 tablespoons)
The cornerstone of any soul food seasoning, Lawry's is a classic...much like Harlem is the classic member of SoulBounce with his laid back style and calm approach to celebrating soul music.

"Butta" - Yellow Curry Powder (1 tablespoon)
The EIC with the island roots is best represented with an island spice. She's also yellow aka redbone aka beige...like butter, get it?

"Huny" - Cayenne Pepper (1 teaspoon)
Her designs have always been hot to death and this holds true on the way she keeps the design and formatting of the SB site very "muy caliente."

"Ro" - White Pepper (1 teaspoon)
An understated, yet flavorful spice...you don't see the kick coming until it's much too late--kind of like the writing style of this vibrant contributor.

"Ill Mami" - Brown sugar (1 tablespoon)
Sweet as she can be while holding her own amidst the domineering curry and attention grabbing peppers. The Mami of Ill's prose is the rose that flourishes in the thorns of hip hop.

"Fave" - Sage (1 teaspoon)
Dark. Kinda dusty. This spice has its place despite not commanding much attention--a "behind the scenes" spice inspired by a "behind the scenes" cat.

Mix these spices in a bowl and sprinkle over two pounds of your finest chicken wings. The amalgamation of these exciting elements take hold of the chicken and force it into succulent submission whether you're making a "12-piece, fried hard" (©2008 Phonte) or placing them on the grill. I'm thankful to be amongst a group of fabulous, music-loving individuals that inspire the senses of smell and taste with as much impact as they inspire the sense of sound.
