All The Way Live: Alice Russell Does Gnarls Barkley

I've already gone on record about how dope UK songstress Alice Russell is live in concert. After having missed her numerous times when she's come to town, I finally made it a point to see her a few months ago, and it was one of the best shows I've been to so far this year. When Alice opens her mouth, it's not a game. Whether she's singing her original masterpieces or covering songs by others, she goes hard. If you've heard her version of Teena Marie's "Portuguese Love" when she sang with Bah Samba, then you know what I mean. And if you got your hands on her latest album Pot of Gold, then you've no doubt heard her take a stab at Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" and kill it in the process. She performed her version when I caught her live and what was crazy was how phenomenal she sounded--and this was after she had already sung for over an hour. Now this is how you make a song your own.
