There are certain rules during singing competitions. Number One is usually, "You can't boo the Lord." So some competitions don't allow gospel songs, just so they won't seem too harsh if the singer is awful less than good. That's how I felt watching this clip of Teena Marie performing "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" at this year's Trumpet Awards during a tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen. I felt like it just shouldn't have been allowed. It's just not my cup of 'Tee'. In fact, if I could be harsh, the clip would be called "His Side-Eye Is On The Stage." But I can't, since you're not supposed to boo the Lord. So I won't. What I will say is if you'd like to see more, be sure to check out the Trumpet Awards when the show airs Easter Sunday at 8 pm EST on TVOne.
