Maxwell is Manly, Humbled and Validated

In my opinion there is never, ever enough Maxwell-related content. You know, on SoulBounce or anywhere. He recently sat down for an interview with the Associated Press and thankfully they videoed the entire thing and posted it on YouTube. In it he addresses why he left us for seven years, dispelling any ideas about it being due to mixed reviews or the pressures of putting out a new album. He says,

A lot of my absence was based on...going out to get life experience, you know? Becoming a guy, becoming a man. I mean, I'm 35 years old now. In your twenties you're just a sketch of what you think you're trying to be..."

He also says he didn't expect such response to his tour, that he didn't think that audiences were desperate to see his delicious...wait. He didn't anticipate such interest in his music without a new single and an album that's still months away from release. If you're willing to invest a bit in seeing him live you will get to hear three new songs but he's going to focus on performing his classics because, like many of us, he doesn't like it when artists only focus on new music during concerts. It's great to hear that he's so thoughtful and real in addition to his other amazing assets. Listen to the audio before watching the video because once he pops up it's hard to focus on what he's saying. [AP]
