Bounce-Worthy: Tamara Wellons

How often do you hear a house song and find yourself totally wrapped up in the singer's vocals (while simultaneously jacking your body, of course)? If you can relate to that, then perhaps you've heard of Tamara Wellons whose name should be very familiar to soulful house fans thanks to her hit song "Oh Well," which became a dance floor filler over the past two years. But Wellons doesn't just sing house music -- not that singing just house music would be a bad thing. Her musical offerings span soul, hip hop, jazz and other genres to create a diverse listening experience. With two independent releases under her belt -- the EP Introducing... and the Tamara In Wonderland mixtape -- Wellons is now ready for her official debut. Signed to Ocha Records, the label started by house music vanguards Osunlade and Carlos "Casamena" Mena, her full-length album, Life Is, is scheduled to drop on Wednesday, October 29th exclusively on Traxsource with an iTunes release following shortly thereafter. Not bad for the Maryland-based educator, wife (she's married to Poem-cees' member Black Picasso) and mother of three. Thank goodness for us that she's not too busy being every woman to share her gift with the world.

Tonight Tamara will be performing at the opening night of the Can A Sista Rock A Mic? festival, and her CD release party will be held on 10/29. Both events will be held at the legendary Bohemian Caverns. Until then, groove out to a couple of cuts from her CD that caught Osunlade's ear before he signed her -- and ours, too.
