Behind the Groove with Mary Mary

btg-marymary.jpgErica and Tina Campbell, collectively known as Mary Mary, are not your grandmother's gospel singers. Yes, the lively duo is grounded in the Word and Christ-centered, but you are just as likely to hear their songs played on secular radio stations or in clubs as you would hear them in church service on Sunday morning. And they are fine with that.

The Atkins sisters (they both married men with the last name Campbell) first burst onto the scene in 2000 with the song "Shackles (Praise You)" and turned the praise party out with the catchy, uptempo gospel tune. They haven't slowed down with their danceable inspirational music and their latest hit "Get Up" is another song that makes you want to move in the name of the Lord.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down to chat with Erica and Tina about the new album, how gospel artists are real people too, working with David Banner and their hopes ministry of music reaches as many people as possible wherever and however it can. Amen to that!
