So I was traipsing through the Soulman's spot recently when a commenter brought up Nina Simone's "See-Line Woman (Remix)" and I thought, "Well, yeah!" It probably doesn't get much more dope than this. (Do I use "dope" too much? Deal.) Originally from Broadway-Blues-Ballads, Louie Vega and Kenny Dope don't overdo it with the enhancements. They extend the track with slight, additional instrumentation to not take away from the spirit of the track.
Common, Talib Kweli, Mary J. Blige and Timbaland have all benefited from Nina's work. Is there any wonder why? Respect.
