A new music experience is coming to Washington, DC, with the debut of the Neo Age Showcase at The Howard Theatre this month. The Neo Age Showcase is a joint production of the historic Howard Theatre and upstarts the Neo Elite group led by Zeplyn Tillman, who is the mastermind behind this event that is looking to promote the next generation of local, national and global soul and R&B artists to the DMV.

The first Neo Age Showcase will do just that on Thursday, July 23rd with an exciting lineup scheduled to hit the stage. The debut event is pulling talent from near and far with local acts Reesa Renee, BOOMscat and ShaMain on the bill and SoulBounce fave Aaron Camper coming to town to round things out, all backed by a vibrant house band.

In addition to the featured performers, the showcase will feature the One Minute Mic competition seeking to find the best untapped soul/R&B singers in the DMV area from social media. Entries are still being accepted via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and aspiring singers can enter videos (no more than 30 seconds in length) by using the hashtag #OneMinuteMic. SoulBounce is one of the One Minute Mic partners, and we'll be choosing a contestant from all of the entries to represent us at the Neo Age Showcase, so give it your best shot.

Tickets for the inaugural Neo Age Showcase are on sale now at The Howard Theatre box office as well as online via Ticketmaster. A portion of the ticket sales from the first show will go to two nonprofit organizations, The DJ|JD Foundation and Critical Exposure. If you're in a benevolent mood and simply want to donate to the Neo Age Showcase movement, there is a GoFundMe campaign also set up to receive donations.
