The 2015 Billboard Music Awards happened last night in Las Vegas to celebrate the Billboard chart toppers from the past year. With pop music dominating the charts and airwaves, R&B and soul artists were relatively shut out but a few were on hand to at least perform on the show even if they weren't going home with any awards.

Mariah Carey, who has reigned supreme on Billboard in the past and broken many chart records, showed up to promote her new Las Vegas residency and treat fans to a little something old and a little something new. Dressed to the nines in a shimmery silver gown with peekaboo panels and her hair flipped to perfection, Mimi started singing "Vision of Love" and surprisingly enough she was singing live. Carey's performances of late have been plagued by sketchy vocals, and although this was no 1990 "Vision of Love" the 2015 version wasn't too shabby.

After a healthy portion of her first hit song, Mariah segued into her current single "Infinity." Unfortunately the song was just as blah live as it is on wax. Although "Infinity" the song wasn't impressive, Mariah once again sang live and really showed out at the song's end. She wrapped up her performance with one of her signature high notes -- that she actually hit this time -- before graciously thanking the audience.

Vegas' newest showgirl put on a pleasant performance with vastly improved vocals, but it all felt kinda been there, seen that. We don't know if Mariah Carey sold any tickets to her shows or copies of #1 to Infinity, but she did sell us on the fact that she's still got it -- or at least some of it. Now she just needs to spice it up.
