Luke James Weighs His ‘Options’

Luke James Options Still

While Luke James continues to prepare for the release of his highly-anticipated eponymous debut album, he recently surprised us by sharing the first single “Options” featuring Rick Ross with his steadily growing fanbase. Building on the favorable buzz generated by the song, he now offers us the visuals for the dramatic ballad.

Directed by the man himself, the video is a fairly intimate affair, giving you the feeling of having a one-on-one with Mr. James as he laments about his oft tumultuous relationship. The singer-songwriter has been quoted as saying, “If I don’t feel it, I can’t sing it.” After viewing this passionate performance, I think it’s safe to say he feels it -- and we feel it, too. As the song builds to an emotional tipping-point, Rozay’s signature “Maybach Music” tag sounds ill-timed and out of place. Just like in the actual song, I wish I had the option of removing his verse/appearance altogether. It’s not that he does a poor job, it’s just that it’s unnecessary. The song and video stand perfectly fine on their own. Personal preferences aside, the video hits all the right notes and makes you enjoy the song even more.

Get wrapped up in the visuals right here, and get your copy of the song via iTunes or pre-order the debut album (due September 23rd) through James’ website and you’ll receive an automatic MP3 download of "Options."
