'Vibe' With Kendrick Lamar & Lady Gaga

A few years back I came to the realization that Lady Gaga was not going anywhere in the near future. And I'm not even necessarily saying that this is a bad thing as the woman managed to solidify herself as a force in pop music culture within a short period of time (even if Madonna did the same thing a generation earlier). That said, all the respect that I have for her talent and accomplishments doesn't negate the fact that some things would be better off if left alone. Last I checked, any plans for collaborations slated between Kendrick Lamar and the pop diva had been put on the back-burner due to creative differences, which was totally fine in my book. So when I found out that Gaga had hit Twitter last night with a demo of the most quotable track from K. Dot's good kid, m.A.A.d city, "B**ch, Don't Kill My Vibe," all I could do was repeat the title back in Gaga's direction. Well here I sit, after several listens, vibe somewhat intact. The accompanying video features audio of Gaga singing the hook as we catch a glimpse of her "chillun in Rio, and backstage in Columbia." The demo is actually not bad at all considering some disastrous results from previous intersections of hip-hop and Lady Gaga, but I'd still say that I'm still married to the original. Had this version been on the album it would be hard to dismiss it as anything other than a ploy to convince Gaga's ever so faithful monsters to pick up Kendrick's debut LP. Glad he was able to move some units without the pop star power. Regardless of the outcome, it will be interesting to see what else these two have cooked up together. Stream the video below and let us know which version you prefer.
