Oh, R. Kelly. Just when I was starting to kinda sorta maybe like him again after the release of last year's surprisingly solid Love Letter, he couldn't leave well enough alone and keep that old soul momentum going. That would have been too much like right. And instead of penning a grateful gospel song giving God all the glory for his full recovery from throat surgery in July, which would have been such a win, R. ups and returns to put his haters on notice with a new track entitled "Shut Up." Kelly decides to address those foes who've been flapping their gums about him in the wake of his surgery basically telling them to shut their pie holes. OK, R., good luck with having that happen. But it's on the last verse where he totally goes for Trey Songz's neck on the not-so-sly. That slick talk alone makes this song worth listening to at least once and will surely only add fuel to the fire between Trey and Kells, which is a musical trainwreck waiting to happen. That we'll all be listening to.
