We Can't 'Hide' Our Excitement About 14th's EP

14th's "Hide Yourself" became quite the favorite here at SBHQ, so it was with some excitement when we pressed play on the full Hide Yourself EP. The first single was a genre-bending affair, encompassing house, soul, and electro with a very London sound. Well, if that's your thing -- and it's certainly mine -- then the EP should be right up your street. "Chimes" follows in its predecessors footsteps, bubbling along on a mid-tempo groove, but then transforming into a bass-heavy dancefloor stomper. On the other hand "Lights Off" sees Tom (Barber) taking over from Tracey (Duodu) on vocals, delivering a darker, more melancholy downtempo number. The fourth and final track is a remix of their song "Millionaire," a definite club track that features distorted bass and repetitive vocals and is probably my least favorite of the bunch, if only for the fact that we don't really get to hear Tracey's distinctive voice in all its glory. If Hide Yourself is anything to go by, 2012 could be a big year for 14th, here's hoping there's a full album in the pipeline. The EP is scheduled to be released on November 14th.
