So by now everyone who reads these pages should have bought Lalah Hathaway's new album, Where It All Begins, which was released last Tuesday. Not owning this album is not an option for lovers of good soul music. But if you're a little slow on the uptake, then not to worry because this stellar collection of songs isn't going anywhere. And in case you need another nudge (OK, push) to get off your behind, then here's one of the bonus tracks from the Best Buy exclusive that will have you dancing all the way to the nearest store or over to the Best Buy website to make an immediate purchase. "Lose Yourself" finds Lalah singing over a four-on-the-floor house groove, which, with the exception of remixes, we've never heard her do before. As a Lalah lover and a house head, I'm loving this. Aside from the fact that I can cut a rug to it, the lyrics encouraging you to "lose yourself in order to find yourself" are on point and right on time. This song is screaming for a soulful or deep house remix of some sort or fashion, but as it is now, I give this four out of five soul claps. (And Lalah in #thatreddress gets a perfect 10!)
